The Green Mountain State perfectly describes the beautiful scenery, abundant green space, unspoiled wilderness and wild flower filled meadows you will see on this tour. An included visit to the Vermont Maple Museum allows you a chance to learn the history of all things maple in Vermont. Our visit to the Morgan horse farm is a heartwarming adventure you do not want to miss. The majestic animals date back to 1789 and are the official state animal of Vermont. You will enjoy some free time in the quaint village of Stowe, named 11th out of all small towns in North America. A visit and included lunch at the von Trapp Lodge, of the Austrian musical family will have you singing songs from The Sound of Music. Youre sure to be thrilled with the breathtaking views on the Mount Washington Cog Railway in New Hampshire that has thrilled passengers from all over the world with its ascent to the highest peak in the Northeast. Day 1
Today we will depart for our tour to the "Green Mountain" state of Vermont from Belleville and make quick stops in Kingston and Gananoque to pick-up our other passengers! We will cross the border and make a lunch stop at the Cracker Barrell (on your own). Then we will head to Killington, VT where we will check-in to the Killington Grand Resort for a two-night stay. Dinner will be included this evening!
DDay 2
After our included breakfast at the hotel, we will meet a local guide who will take us on a full day of touring! Our first stop of the day will be to the New England Maple Museum. The history of maple is presented from its early beginning to present day refinement with exhibits of sugaring artifacts, murals and displays. Have some fun next to the world's largest Maple Syrup jug and take a stroll across the Gorham Covered Bridge for a photo opportunity!
There will be free time for lunch and shopping in the charming town of Middlebury. Afterwards we will head to the UVM Morgan Horse Farm. Home to the oldest, continuous Morgan horse breeding herd in the world. Established in 1878, this beautiful historic site is a working farm of 40+ Morgan horses!
Danforth Pewter is our next destination. Experience first-hand how these local artisans have been "spinning" this tri metallic alloy into exquisite pewter wares for more than 30 years. Discover the history and romance of this timeless metal in both their workshop and gift shop.
After our fun filled day of touring, we will have a gourmet dinner and live cooking demo hosted by a Vermont Chef! You will be entertained "in the kitchen" with cooking tips and recipes, and get to taste the results!
Day 3
We will depart for Cold Hollow Cider Mill after our included breakfast and meet-up with our local guide. This will be a self-guided tour of a working cider mill and offers an engaging rural experience. Learn how apples, bees and maple tress all get along!
We're off to Luncheon at the Trapp Family Lodge! A mountain resort in European tradition owned and operated by THE von Trapp Family, the inspiration behind The Sound of Music! You will be amazed by the rolling green mountains; beautiful bucolic views; and the Austrian Architecture. Stroll the grounds and visit the exquisite gift shop.
In the afternoon we will stop is Stowe Village where you will have free time to shop and explore this charming village with its "most photographed": church steeple. A photo stop will also be made at one of Vermont's historic covered Bridges. Dinner is on your own this evening but your guide will offer suggestions if needed.
Day 4
We will check-out of the hotel and travel to the Granite State of New Hampshire, after our included breakfast. We will stop for a photo opportunity at Quechee Gorge (Vermont's Little Grand Canyon) as we make our way to the White Mountains. You will have time to grab some lunch at the Marshfield Base Station before we board the Mount Washington Cog Railway to climb to the top of Mount Washington! You're in for a treat when you ride on the world's first mountain-climbing Cog Railway train. The train will carry you above the clouds to the top of the highest peak in the North East, where all of New England spreads out before you! (Please note that availability is weather dependent, dress in layers and bring a hat and gloves).
We will then travel to Lincoln, NH to visit "The Basin" in Franconia Notch State Park. Stroll a paved path on a nature walk to view a solid granite bedrock "pothole." See how a beautiful waterfall of the Pemigewasset River has eroded this water filled basin over the past 25,000 years. The rock formation seen in the stream bed at the outlet has been known for generations as "The Old Man's Foot".
We will now have to say farewell to our local guide and travel to Plymouth, NH where we will check into the FairField Inn for a two-night stay! Dinner is included this evening.
Day 5
Breakfast will be included on our last full day on touring. We will meet our local guide and head to Squam Lake! This is where the classic film On Golden Pond was filmed. Board a Narrated Boat Cruise and hear the stories of the natural forces that created the lakes and the wildlife that makes the lake so special. Be on the lookout for Loons!
There will be some free time for lunch (on your own) in the lake's region in Meredith.
After lunch you can enjoy some homemade confections at Kellerhause. Unique treats can be enjoyed by everyone including their famous ice cream buffet.
With our bag's full of sweet treats, we'll visit the Squam Lake Natural Science Centre where a naturalist will teach us about the native wildlife, their habitats and how they survive. Dinner will be included this evening.
Day 6
Breakfast is included at the Hotel this morning as we depart for home with many fond memories of your McCoy Getaway to Vermont and New Hampshire! We'll see you again soon!
