Cape Cod - USA

Day 1

We'll begin our seaside adventure to Cape Cod bright and early with a 6:00 AM departure from the Quinte Mall in Belleville. We'll make a quick stop in Napanee, Kingston and Gananoque to pick up some other passengers in our group. With all passengers on board we will depart for Cape Cod! We will make a Duty-Free stop prior to crossing the border. Afterwards, we will stop at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant for lunch (on your own) and make other comfort breaks along our journey this afternoon.

We expect to arrive at the Holiday Inn Hyannis in the late afternoon. Welcome to the sandy shores of Cape Cod. Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages. You can revel in the arts and culture, and reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles, and saltwater taffy.

After checking in, dinner will be included tonight at your hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast is included at the hotel again this morning. Following breakfast, a local guide will meet us and will conduct a tour of Hyannis including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family. Next, we will travel to Woods Hole where we'll board the ferry to Martha's Vineyard! Woods Hole is home to the center of discovery of the HMS Titanic, the world renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the national headquarters of the International Wildlife Coalition.

In Martha's Vineyard we'll learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as we pass through the picturesque villages. There will be free time for lunch in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. and our day on the island will be completed in Oak Bluffs, strolling through "Cottage City" with its brightly painted cottages and decorative "gingerbread" trim.

At 5:00 pm, we'll depart the island and head back to Hyannis for dinner (included). After dinner, the remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 3

After our included breakfast at the hotel, we will meet our local guide for a full day of touring! We will travel the historic Route 6A known as Old Kings Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. We will travel past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. View a windmill, a Cape Cod lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitors Centre. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach Land’s End, Provincetown. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen’s village so fun!

After Lunch (on your own), you'll have your choice of two incredible excursions...
Board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of whale watching (3 hours). You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these shallow waters to feed. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses.

OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO STAY ON DRY LAND:

Admission is included on a one-hour Dune Tour excursion. Ride through the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the largest protected coastline in the country. Your driver/guide will point out the "dune shacks" where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art. Following a busy day of sightseeing, dinner is included this evening. Following dinner, the remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 4

Breakfast will be included at the hotel again this morning. After breakfast, a local guide will meet us at the hotel this morning and escort us to the Hy-Line Docks where we'll board the ferry for a visit to the stunning island of Nantucket.

Once we're on the island, our guide will conduct a Nantucket Island Tour and point out the restaurants, galleries, shops, and museums that are within walking distance of the dock. You'll have free time this afternoon to grab some lunch (on your own) and do some hopping before we board the ferry around 4:00 pm. Please remember to wear comfortable walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks that line Nantucket's downtown area. Once we have departed the island, dinner is included on the mainland. The remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 5

Breakfast is included at the hotel again this morning. Travel to the city of Boston and meet your local guide at the Surface Artery. Boston is the city where America's roots were formed and driving through it is like reading the pages of an American history book. Our guide will point out sights along the Freedom Trail, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and the gold-domed State House. There will be time to stroll the Public Gardens and enjoy free time for lunch on your own.

We'll then bid farewell to our guide and travel to Sturbridge where we will check into the Publick House Inn for a one night stay.. Our included dinner tonight will be at the historical Salem Cross Inn! Relax by the fieldstone fireplace as the crackling fire roasts your prime rib "to a turn" by rotating it slowly over wild cherry logs. This jack is the only known 1700's antique roasting jack that is still in use today!

Day 6

This morning we'll enjoy breakfast at the hotel before beginning our journey back to Kingston. You'll head home with home with sand in your shoes, seashells in your pocket and many fond memories of your McCoy Getaway to Cape Cod!
